AW: NorthQ Giant UFO fit into socket 462 (A) -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Zitat: Zitat von zakris
Hi!
I'm sorry, I write to you in English, but my German isn't good enough to describe this matter.
I saw your pictures of your motherboard, which you have installed a NorhQ UFO heatsink. I'm planing to do the same thing on my socket A motherboard. But there is a question mark if the motherboard is compatible with the huge NorthQ Giant UFO. It's a Gigabyte GA-7N400 Pro2, and has two capacitor (Kondensator) located about 1.65 mm from the socket, and is about 2.1 mm in height. So my question to is: do you know the dimensions of the frame which the heatsink is mounted on? I need to know the distance between the motherboard and the mounting frame on the side where the heatsink is screwed to the frame. I've send a e-mail to NorthQ, but they havn't reply.
Thank you for time.
Best regards

Sorry, my reply is in german, because my english is so bad.
I try to translate my text, i hope you understand me. LOL
You dont need a framework mounting plate with socket A (only at the other sockets), the heatsink fastened with 3 point nose mounting plate to the socket A.
Look to the photos, there are also condensers, fits nevertheless.
The black Clammy one cliped on the nose mounting plate, and there the heatsink is then screwed to. Unfortunately one cannot fasten the NorthQ as with the Zalman heatsink with bridges to the Motherboard. That can be done only with AMD socket 939/940/754 and Intel socket 478/775, but not with socket A (462).
Ich hoffe, ich konnte Dir helfen - I hope i could help you
